"Sippin Syrup" or "Drank" are the new anti-energy drinks that you've probably seen at local Conoco and Mobile corner stores in your hood. If you're from the south then you may be aware that these products are no doubt inspired by prevalent Houston street drugs like "syrup", "drank" and sometimes referred to as "slaughter".

The commercial versions of drank and syrup are marketed and described as giving you the same relaxed effect as the illegal street drug. Now "Sippin Syrup" and "Drank" are both FDA(and FBI approved), so theres no legal issues, but there are moral issues.

Many parents and many in law enforcement see the anti-energy drinks as a possible gate way drugs. The anti-energy drinks are no more difficult to purchase than a bottle of pop, so theres great potential that youngins who buy the product could slide right down the slippery slope into future experimentation with the real drug.

Note: The anti-energy drinks are a mixture of Melatonin which is a natural substance that helps you sleep and Valerian Root which helps insomniacs get shut eye.

Double note: I've never understood the fun in sippin syrup and then going out on the town, only to fall asleep in the corner of some night club. The one time I experimented with the drug I sleep for nearly 13 hours straight!
